TheLIGHTENING peptide®formulation shows a clear effect on the following mechanisms of melanin synthesis:
1.-UVA and UVB rays impact the skin and keratinocytes secrete SCF and ET-1 which activate melanin synthesis by melanocytes. LIGHTENING peptide® has the property of blocking the signal sent by Keratinocytes by inhibiting Stem Cell Factor (SCF) and Endothelin-1 (ET-1).
2.-Inhibits the transcription factor Microftalmia (MIFT) in the nucleus. MIFT is the most critical transcription factor involved in melanin synthesis. It is responsible for the production of melanin-related enzymes such as TRP1 and TRP2 tyrosine kinases.
3.- The last point of action is to prevent melanin from reaching the melanocytes, the LIGHTENING peptide®acts on Melanophilin which is critical in this step. Melatonin is synthesized and stored in melanosomes, these vesicles are transported towards keratinocyte using melanocyte dendrites and by means of Melanophilin filaments, Myosin Va and Rab27A.
